PauseCart — Privacy Policy

The short version

PauseCart does not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. We don't know who you are, what you buy, or what you browse. That's by design.

What data PauseCart accesses

PauseCart reads the following information from the Amazon product page you are currently viewing:

• Product title
• Product price
• Product ASIN (Amazon's product identifier)
• The Amazon domain you are on (e.g., amazon.com, amazon.co.jp)

This information is used solely to display the product name and price on the PauseCart checklist page. It is passed via URL parameters when you click "Let me think about it" and is not sent to any server, database, or third party.

What data PauseCart stores

PauseCart stores a small amount of data locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API:

• Minimum price threshold — The dollar amount you set in the popup settings (default: $25)
• Dismissed product ASINs — A list of products where you clicked "I've already decided — buy now," so PauseCart won't ask again for those products
• Pause count — A simple counter of how many times PauseCart has paused you

All of this data is stored locally on your device only. It is never transmitted to any external server.

What data PauseCart does NOT collect

• No personal information (name, email, address, etc.)
• No browsing history
• No purchase history
• No cookies from Amazon or any other site
• No analytics or usage tracking
• No IP addresses
• No device fingerprinting

External services

PauseCart does not connect to any external APIs, analytics services, or data collection endpoints.

The checklist page (hosted at vpnbeyond.com/pause/) is a static HTML page. It does not set cookies, run analytics, or collect any information about visitors. The product information displayed on this page comes entirely from the URL parameters — no server-side processing occurs.

Affiliate links

The "Buy it on Amazon" button on the checklist page contains an Amazon Associates affiliate link. If you click this link and make a purchase on Amazon, the developer of PauseCart may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

The affiliate link does not collect any personal data. It simply adds an Amazon Associates tracking tag to the Amazon URL. This is the same mechanism used by millions of websites that participate in the Amazon Associates program.

You are never redirected to Amazon without your explicit action. The affiliate link only appears on the checklist page, and only if you choose to visit it.

Third-party access

PauseCart does not share, sell, or transfer any data to third parties. There is no data to share — PauseCart does not collect any.

Children's privacy

PauseCart does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Permissions used

PauseCart requests the following Chrome permissions:

• storage — Used to save your settings (price threshold, dismissed products, pause count) locally on your device

PauseCart does not request access to your browsing history, bookmarks, tabs, or any other browser data.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision.

Open source

PauseCart's source code is fully reviewable. The entire extension consists of a content script, a popup page, and a CSS file — all readable in plain text. There is no minified or obfuscated code.
